Idea Cellular, India’s 3rd largest national mobile operator, has announced to cut mobile data rates across all circles in India. The new data rates will be effective from July 15.
Idea said it is offering data benefits up to 45 percent for 2G, 3G, and 4G data packs. The company said it decided to slash mobile Internet rates to enable customers get more value on their 2G, 3G, and 4G data packs.
“We want to ensure that benefits of Internet are reaped conveniently by every individual, through our innovative, customized and affordable products. This will enable the Internet revolution and its impact to be felt in every part of the country,” said a company statement, citing Chief Marketing Officer Sashi Shankar.
“Now Idea users can get up to 45 percent more data benefits on sachet packs below 1 GB. Idea offers a wide range of 4G, 3G and 2G sachet data packs priced between Rs 8 and Rs 225,” the statement said.
The 2G data pack of Rs 19 will now offer 110 MB data for 3 days compared to previous 75 MB data for 3 days.
Similarly, Rs 22 data pack (4G/3G) will now offer 90 MB 3G data for 3 days compared to 65 MB data for 3 days – a 38 per cent more data benefit to the customer.
Idea has over 175 million subscribers in the country that generate traffic in excess of 2 billion minutes a day.
