Undergraduate students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have received over 850 unique job offers during the ongoing 2024-25 placement season, marking the highest number in three years.
This remarkable figure represents a steady upward trend in placement opportunities, following 712 offers in 2022, 768 in 2023, and 781 in 2024. According to a statement released by the institute on Thursday, the number is expected to increase further as the placement season continues.
“The offers are expected to further increase as the placement season is still continuing,” IIT Delhi noted in its announcement.
Leading global corporations including Google, Microsoft, American Express, Barclays, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Oracle, PayU, and Squarepoint Capital have shown strong interest in recruiting from the campus. These organizations, along with BlueStone, Deutsche India, Graviton Research Capital, Meesho, and Texas Instruments, have each extended double-digit offers to students.
The placement season has also witnessed active participation from public sector undertakings such as Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, Petronet LNG, Indian Oil Corporation, and the Centre for Development of Telematics, reflecting diverse employment opportunities for graduates.
International recruiters have extended more than 40 offers to IIT Delhi students, with positions available across Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Taiwan, the UAE, the UK, and the US, enhancing the global career prospects for graduates.
Interestingly, an exit survey from the previous year revealed that approximately 30% of the 2024 undergraduate batch chose career paths outside the traditional campus placement route. Among these, 7% ventured into entrepreneurship or joined startups, 6% pursued higher education, and a significant 17% prepared for competitive examinations such as civil or engineering services.
This diversification in career choices is expected to continue among the 2025 graduating cohort, highlighting the versatile ambitions of IIT Delhi students and the institution’s success in nurturing varied professional pathways.
