In a bid to make a global comeback in the smartphone industry, Nokia has announced a series of new smartphones at MWC 2017 taking place in the city of Barcelona. The new phones announced include the most talked about Nokia 3310 (2017) feature phone, Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6, and Nokia 6 Arte Black Special Edition Model. According to Nokia, the new Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will come with Google Assistant which was limited to Pixel smartphones (and LG G6) up till now.
Nokia 3310 (2017)
The new Nokia 3310 (2017) features phone runs on Nokia Series 30+ OS. It comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA color display, a 2MP rear camera with LED flash, 16MB storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card). The new Nokia 3310 will also have the classic Snake game. Connectivity options include 2G network connectivity, Micro USB (2.0), Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM, and 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Nokia 3310 (2017) packs a removable 1200mAh, that will provide a standby time of 1 month, and talk time of 22 hours. Buyers will have to shell out EUR 49 (roughly Rs. 3,500) for new Nokia 3310 (2017).
In India, the phone will be launched in Q2 2017. It will come in four color variants– Warm Red, Yellow, Dark Blue, and Grey.
Nokia 3
Nokia 3 smartphone comes with a polycarbonate body and metallic frame on the sides. It is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737 chipset, and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The phone features a 5-inch HD screen, 8MP front and rear cameras, 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card), microUSB 2.0, and NFC.
The phone packs a 2650mAh battery. The phone will come with a price tag of EUR 139 (about Rs. 9,800).
Nokia 5
Nokia 5 Android phone features a 5.2-inch curved HD IPS LCD display screen. It is powered by the 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 430 processor (along with Qualcomm Adreno 505 GPU) and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. The phone sports 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card), 13-MP rear camera (with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron pixel size, dual toned LED flash) and 8-MP front camera (with f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree field of view and auto focus). The phone packs a 3000mAh battery, and also offers features like Micro-USB 2.0, NFC, 4G LTE support, fingerprint sensor, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB OTG, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Accelerometer (G-sensor), ambient light sensor, e-compass, Hall sensor, gyroscope and a proximity sensor. The dimensions of the device are 149.7 x 72.5 x 8.05 mm. Nokia 5 is priced at EUR 189. The phone comes in four color variants: Tempered Blue, Silver, Matte Black, and Copper.
Nokia 6 Global
Nokia also launched its Nokia 6 for global buyers. The global Nokia 6 model—unlike the China model that had 4 GB RAM and 64GB internal storage—features 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC (along with Adreno 505 GPU) and boasts a 16MP rear camera (with PDAF, 1.0um sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash) and 8MP front camera (with a 1.12um sensor and f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling). The dual-SIM phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The phone sports 5.5-inch full-HD display (screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels) wrapped in 2.5D Gorilla Glass. Nokia 6 packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery. The fingerprint scanner is embedded in its home button.
The phone will be available for sale in India, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and Europe in Q2 2017. In Europe, the Nokia 6 will come with a price tag of EUR 229 (approximately Rs. 16,000).
AT MWC 2017, Nokia also announced Nokia 6 Arte Black special edition model, sporting a glossy black body and featuring 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Other features are same as standard Nokia 6 model. This phone will sell for Euro 299 (approx. Rs 21,000).
