Paytm has launched a campaign to increase digital inclusion in India. The company is calling upon merchants and consumers to teach other people how they can use Paytm to pay and receive money.
The aim of this program is to transform user behavior and accelerate the ongoing shift in India towards digital payments.
The incentives being offered under the campaign include a grand prize of Rs 10 million as well as additional prizes like smartphones, laptops, motorcycles, and other gift items. All users doing transactions through Paytm between December 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017 will be eligible to win these prizes.
“We believe this is a landmark moment in the country’s financial history,” said Sr. Vice President Paytm, Amit Sinha.
“During the course of the recent demonetization drive, we have been able to help millions of new customers and merchants adopt digital payments with Paytm. To further accelerate the ongoing shift in user behavior, we are launching a sustained campaign to spread more awareness about the benefits of digital payments.”
The company will also offer scholarships to users who help increase digital inclusion and increase awareness about use of Paytm.
In India, over 1.5 million offline merchants are currently accepting payments through Paytm, and the number is increasing day by day. Paytm can be used to do payments to auto and taxi drivers, grocery shops, petrol pumps, restaurants, multiplexes, coffee shops, parking, kirana shops, newspaper vendors, pharmacies, and hospitals.
