BMW has launched the 2016 BMW 3 series Gran Turismo in India. The car will be available in three variants. The base model Sport Line diesel (320d) is priced at Rs 43.30 lakh, while the Luxury Line diesel and the Luxury Line petrol (330i) will be available at Rs 46.50 lakh and Rs 47.50 lakh respectively. The car will be manufactured locally at BMW’s Chennai plant.
The new car has got subtle tweaks in the styling department over its predecessor. A petrol motor has been added to the list of trims sold in India. The new 3 series GT car has also got a new headlight with adaptive LEDs as an optional feature. Fog lamps LEDs will now be a standard. Larger air vents have been added on the front and rear bumper. The car runs on 17-inch alloys with 225/55 R17 tires as standard. The new model also offers added safety features such as six air bags, side-impact protection, and anti-lock braking system. The new model also features emergency spare wheel, run-flat tires with reinforced sidewalls, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor.
The new vehicle is 4,824 mm in length, 1,828 mm in width and 1,508 mm in height, which means it is wider by 17 mm, longer by 190 mm, and taller by 79 mm compared to regular 3 Series sedan. Arctic Grey and Jatoba Metallic are the two new body colors added by BMW.
The interiors are now a little more chrome. You can also connect your smartphone to the car’s external aerial through an inductive tray. Other features include a powered sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, and BMW’s iDrive system. The large boot offers 520 liters of luggage. The rear bench has got a 40:20:40 split too for added versatility.
Globally, the new 2016 BMW 3GT was unveiled just a couple of months back and is being offered with three new petrol engines and five diesel engines. However, the company is offering only one petrol and one diesel option in India. The 2-litre motor in petrol version develops 252 bhp at 5,200 rpm and 350 Nm between 1,450-4,800 rpm. The diesel mill is a 2-litre motor that provides 190 PS at 4,000 rpm and makes 400 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm.
