Bentley has finally launched the Bentayga Diesel SUV – its first ever diesel car, equipped with 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine and co-developed with sibling brand Audi.

Named after the Roque Bentayga rocks on Spain’s Grand Canary Island, this fastest diesel car of the world has a top speed of 168 mph (270 Km/h) and comes with two sequential turbos and an electric supercharger to eliminate turbo lag. The SUV can reach to a speed of 62 mph from zero in just 4.8 seconds. Paired to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, the engine is able to generate 429 bhp and 664 lb ft of torque, and the peak torque is available from 1,000 rpm. The car gives the lowest CO2 emissions of any Bentley – 210g/km. The potential maximum range of Bentayga Diesel SUV with full tank is 1,000 km (621 miles) which means you could make it from London to Bordeaux, Verbier, or the Scottish Highlands on one tank.

Earlier this year in April, the Bentley Bentayga with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine, was launched in India. The design of Bentayga diesel is largely similar to W12-engine powered car, although it has been provided with several styling additions including a new Bentley ‘twin-quad’ exhaust tailpipe design, the V8 Diesel badge on the lower front door edge, and black matrix grille with chrome surround and central bar, etc.

Other features of the Bentayga diesel include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS), multi-mode air suspension, multi-mode Traction Control (TCS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Hill Descent Control, Park Assist, and Electronic Night Vision, and Bentley Dynamic Ride – the world’s first electric active roll control technology. It also comes with eight-inch touch screen infotainment system with navigation, 60 GB hard drive, Bentley Entertainment Tablet, and a choice of up to 30 languages, and three different sound systems.

The delivery of the Bentley Bentayga diesel model in Europe will start in early 2017, and will be followed by South Africa, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan. The prices for Bentayga Diesel will start at £135,800 – almost £30,000 less than the W12 entry level.
