On Thursday, a huge wave capsized the boat off Koh Samui, killing a British woman and two other people.

It has now emerged that Monica O’Connor, 28, the British woman killed in the horrific accident, was on honeymoon with her husband Tim.

Local authorities are running a search operation for a missing British man – Jason Parnell – who was reportedly celebrating his first wedding anniversary with wife Puja when the accident happened.

“We will not finish until we find him,” said a spokesman for Koh Samui Tourist Police.

The boat which was capsized belonged to The Angthong Discovery Tour and was carrying 32 tourists and four crew members.

Two other people who died in the accident included a German man and a woman from Hong Kong.

Police has arrested the boat’s captain, Sanan Seekakiaw. He will now face a possible charge of reckless endangerment causing death. Mr Seekakiaw told police that he had requested tourists to wear a life vest but some tourists probably took it off during the journey.

Travel agent Amm Pontfuk said: “This company is the number one for my travel agency, I have sent the manager customers for years, I have known him a long time.”

According to Pontfuk, the staff of the tour company is very professional, and they generally don’t go out in bad weather.

“He did not go out for three days already – and this time he thought the weather was OK and that was why he went out.”

Pontfuk said that suddenly very strong wind started blowing, and made the boat “go under the waves and flip.”

“We are supporting the family of a British woman who has sadly died following a boat accident near Koh Samui, Thailand,” the Foreign and Commonwealth Office commented.
