Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi will launch its upcoming Redmi smartphone Redmi Pro on July 27 in Beijing. The company confirmed in a Weibo post that the official name of upcoming smartphone is ‘Redmi Pro’.
According to some reports, Redmi Pro will be equipped with a deca-core MediaTek MT6797M processor and 3 GB RAM. There are also rumors that the handset may have a variant with 4 GB of RAM. The smartphone will run MIUI on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The new phablet is highly likely to be a budget handset, and will definitely be an enhancement over its Note 3 predecessor.
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro was also spotted in a teaser with Redmi’s celeb face Liu Haoran. Based on this leaked image, the handset is not going to have a fingerprint scanner on the back.
Some other reports have also claimed that the handset will sport a metal unibody and having antenna bands on top and bottom of the smartphone. Both power and volume buttons will be on the right side of the handset.
There is however no clue about the weight and size of the phablet. Based on leaked images, the handset appears to be sleek, indicating that Xiaomi is focusing on the design front.
Regarding the screen of the upcoming phablet, there are two different statements doing the rounds. While, the first one claims the device will sport a 5.5-inch display, there are also rumors about an oversized screen. Currently, there is no clue about the kind of display and whether the glass used for the screen will be scratch resistant.
The Redmi Note 3 users had praised the handset for its massive battery, and now they are expecting similar battery in upcoming handset. Battery capacity is expected to be as massive as 4,100 mAh, with fast charging facility.
