PM Narendra Modi to Inaugurate Work on Smart City Projects from Pune on June 25, Says Venkaiah Naidu

Smart City

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch work on Smart City projects on June 25, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu has said.

The work would be inaugurated from the city of Pune and would start simultaneously in 20 other cities across India.

The Smart City Project, announced last year on June 25, is one of the flagship projects of the Narendra Modi’s government, and is expected to motivate all major cities across the country to work for progress.

“It is like a light house. If there is a light house, everybody would look at that. If some smart cities are developed, there will be competition among others also, municipalities will increase their revenue and things will improve,” Mr. Naidu said in Hyderabad, while speaking at a reception organized at Telangana BJP headquarters. Mr. Naidu has recently been elected as the Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan.

Mr. Naidu described PM Modi as the leader of the country whose innovative ideas are taking the country on the path of progress. Mr. Naidu gave examples of highway projects and supplying neem-coated urea to farmers. He stressed that the motto of the NDA government is “reform, perform and transform.”

“We can proudly say that it is Narendra Modi who is the reformer, performer and transformer of the country.”

The parliamentary affairs minister said the government is not having full majority in Rajya Sabha, which is hindering the vehicle of development from moving with greater speed. He said Congress party is currently on the path of decline, and the Rajya Sabha obstacle will “lessen in the coming days.”

Naidu – who in the past has described Modi as “messiah of the poor” – said PM should be praised for the good work he is doing. He questioned if only “one family” should be praised all the time. He said BJP has emerged as the true pan-India party after recent elections, and its footprint can be seen all across India. He also said that BJP was the only party that gave seats to minorities in Rajya Sabha.

“No political party has given even single seat to minorities out of the 57 Rajya Sabha vacancies,” he said.

Mr. Naidu requested all BJP members to work hard for strengthening the party in the state of Telangana.
