Zoom restores services after global outage disrupts users worldwide

On April 16, 2025, Zoom Communications experienced a significant global outage that disrupted its services, including its website, video conferencing platform, and application, affecting thousands of users worldwide.

According to Downdetector.com, reports of the outage peaked at 67,280 users at 3:01 p.m. ET, with issues noted particularly in the United States and various other countries.

Users encountered “Unable to Connect” errors when attempting to join meetings, and the Zoom.us domain displayed a 502 Bad Gateway error. The issue extended to Zoom’s press contact email, which was also non-functional.

While the exact cause remains unclear, a Reddit user suggested that the domain may have been placed in a server hold due to DNS verification, fraud, or security concerns. By 4:12 p.m. ET, the domain registry issue was reportedly fixed, though DNS propagation required additional time. At approximately 5 p.m. ET, Zoom confirmed service had been restored and thanked users for their patience.

Zoom has since restored all services and expressed appreciation for users’ patience during the disruption.
