On Friday, three people were killed in the Chaainsheel Bugyal area in Mori block, Uttarkashi after lightning struck a tent. Seven people were also injured in this incident.
Chaainsheel Bugyal is located at an altitude of 3,600 meters.
On Saturday, authorities got success in bringing three injured out of the area. These individuals were admitted to CHC in Purola. The rescue operation was conducted by the district administration with the help of local police, State Disaster Response Force team and forest department. The rough weather in the area prevented authorities to use helicopter to rescue the injured people.
According to DM Uttarkashi Ashish Srivastava, all injured were out of danger. These people were examined by a team of doctors, who declared their condition as stable. The seven injured were Janak Singh, Sanjay Singh, Jagdish Singh, Chaman Singh, Jitendra Singh, Donesh Singh, and Akhilesh Singh.
Three dead bodies were sent to Mori with the help of local people. Those identified as dead were: Amar Singh (50) of Balawat, Lokesh Singh Rawat (31) and Mor Singh from Mauda Aarakot.
All the dead and the injured were local residents of the area. When the lightning struck, they had taken their goats to graze in the meadows. They had planned to spend the night in two tents the night.
DM Uttarkashi also revealed that the injured will be brought to Mauda using trek route if bad weather conditions prevent pilots to operate the choppers.
